George Weinmann, 90, Richmond

August 12, 1926 - March 16, 2017

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at Assumption Catholic Church in Eden Valley, MN for George Weinmann, age 90, who died Thursday surrounded by his family. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

Relatives and friends may call from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Monday, March 20, 2017 at the Wenner Funeral Home in Richmond. Visitation will continue from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m., Tuesday morning at the funeral home.

George was born in Elrosa, MN to Edward and Anna (Woeste) Weinmann. He married Florence Kohnen on April 11, 1951 in Assumption Catholic Church in Eden Valley. George was a farmer all his life who enjoyed cards, gardening, fishing and watching Twins baseball. In his spare time, he loved to travel, especially to the casino. He also loved telling jokes, his John Deere Tractors, and spending time with his family. George was a member of Knights of Columbus and Catholic United Financial.

Survivors include his loving wife of 65 plus years, Florence; children, Marcie (Dave) Sowada, Eileen (Randy Siem) Decker, Jeanette (Frank) Dingmann, Georgia (David) Gertken, Harold, Elmer (Tammy), Louise (Ed) Hopfer, John, Dan, Mary (Rick) Rausch; siblings, Regina Felling, Jerry, Alice Schmitt; 32 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his son, Richard “Richie”; son-in-law, Willy Decker; siblings, Annie Speldrich, Albert, Ledwina Kampson, Delores Schiemann and Joe.
