Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in St. Cloud for George C. Sizer, age 84 of Backus and formerly of St. Cloud who passed away on Wednesday, November 23, 2016 at his home. Reverend Thomas Knoblach will officiate. Burial will take place at Assumption Cemetery, St. Cloud.

Visitation will be after 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday at the church. Arrangements were by the Daniel Funeral Home, St. Cloud.

George was born November 25, 1931 in Belle River, Minnesota to Luke and Angela (Pasch) Sizer. He married Shirley M. Determan on July 26, 1953 in Gardner, Montana. George was employed by the St. Cloud Park and Recreation Department for over 35 years retiring as a foreman in 1990. George and Shirley owned and operated Idle-a-While Resort on Long Lake 2 near Backus since 1965. He enjoyed hunting, traveling, spending the winters in Texas and going to the casino. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family at the lake.

Survivors include his children, Maria Sizer of Clearwater, Susan Bell of Clearwater, Deborah (Steven) Plafcan of St. Cloud, Lisa (Randy) Vait of Clearwater, Peter Hilger of St. Cloud and Jerry Hilger of St. Cloud; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley on March 9, 2009; his parents; daughter, Sandra, grandchildren, Cody, Skyla and La Kota Plafcan; and Justin Friedman; brothers, Scyril, Donald, William and Glen; sisters, Irene Collins, Rachael Castle, Lucille Vanderwerf, Edith Tschample and Iona Anderson; son-in-law, Jon Bell.

Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers.
