Funeral services will be at 10AM Saturday, April 2, 2016 at Redeemer Lutheran Church, St. Cloud for Genevieve M. Berns, age 82 of St. Cloud who died Tuesday, March 22, 2016. Rev. Bruce Timm will officiate and interment will be at Trinity Cemetery in Sauk Rapids. Visitation will be from 4-7PM on Friday, April 1, 2016 at the Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home, St. Cloud and also one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday. A prayer service will be held at 6:30PM at the funeral home in St. Cloud.

Genevieve was born on May 28, 1933 in Windom, Minnesota to Wesley and Pearl (Johnson) Reed. She married Norman Berns on June 14, 1954 at Redeemer Lutheran Church, St. Cloud. Genevieve was employed as a LPN nurse at Stevens County Hospital in Morris from 1952 – 1966. The couple and their family moved to St. Cloud, Minnesota and she was employed at the St. Cloud Hospital as a LPN nurse from 1966 until her retirement in 1994. She was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church and volunteered as an election official, CentraCare, Paramount Theatre, Good Shepherd Community and Redeemer Lutheran Church. Genevieve enjoyed helping others and staying active but mostly, she loved spending time with her family and friends. Genevieve will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Survivors include her children; Robert (Nancy) of Alexandria; daughter, Norma Jean (Michael) Woods of Alexandria; son, Randall (Mary) of South Haven; grandchildren, Kristin (John) Rosen, Shannon (Dusty Metcalfe) Berns, Dana (Anna) Woods, Kelli (Benjamin) Puhl, Erin (Kimberly) Berns, Ryan (Traci) Berns and Reece (Hannah) Berns and 7 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Norman Berns (July 6, 2007); sisters, Charlotte Johnson, Mary Schenk and brother, Wesley Reed.

The family would like to thank Good Shepherd Community and CentraCare for their care during the last days of mom’s life.
