A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 15, 2017 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in St. Cloud for Gene L. Berg, age 92 of St. Cloud who passed away on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at Legends at Heritage Place/Edgewood, Sartell. Reverend Vincent Lieser will officiate. Interment will take place at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery, Little Falls with military honors.

Visitation will be after 9:00 a.m. on Monday at the church. Arrangements were by the Daniel Funeral Home, St. Cloud.

Gene was born April 14, 1925 in Eden Prairie, Minnesota to Martin and Alice (Albertson) Berg. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of WWII serving in the Asiatic Pacific Area Campaign. Gene was united in marriage to Marjorie L. Lorinser on June 25, 1948 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Willmar. Gene was employed as a salesman by Minnesota Electric for over 40 years, retiring in 1990. Gene was a member of St. Peter’s Parish and St. Cloud Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #428.

He coached basketball at St. Peter’s, was a baseball umpire, loved golfing, bowling, playing cards and watching sports. Gene especially enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren participating in sports. He will be remembered for his great sense of humor.

Gene is survived by his children, Mike of Fairhope, Alabama, Kathy Palmer of Muncie, Indiana, Jim (Patty) of St. Cloud, Jeanne (Ron) Terres of Cold Spring; 13 grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; brother, Howard; sisters, Bonnie Thompson and Judy Peterson.

Gene’s family would like to thank Legends at Heritage Place/Edgewood-Sartell, Lakeview Gardens on Pearl Lake and Heartland Home Care and Hospice for all the special care.

Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers.
