ALBANY -- One man was taken to the hospital after a crash early this morning (Monday).

The incident happened at about 9:00 a.m at the intersection of County Road 10 and Royal River Road just south of Albany.

The Stearns County Sheriff's Office says 54-year-old Steven Espelien, of Benson, was approaching the intersection when a 2002 West Central garbage truck went through the stop sign.

Espelien swerved to avoid getting hit, left the roadway, went airborne and landed about 30 feet from the road in a field.

Espelien was taken to Paynesville hospital for his injuries.

The driver of the garbage truck, 33-year-old Chad Robertson, of Willmar, was not hurt.
