MINNEAPOLIS -- A member of a Minneapolis gang has been sentenced as part of a drug ring that reached far beyond the Twin Cities metro area.

The U.S. Attorney's Office says 26-year-old Louis Banks pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute crack cocaine and gun possession during drug trafficking. He was sentenced to 15 years in prison for the crime.

Banks and six other defendants were charged in a drug ring that dealt crack cocaine in St. Cloud, Duluth, and Fargo, North Dakota.

The Taliban/Young N' Thuggin gang sold the drugs between January and December 2014.

The gang learned they could could sell $20 worth of crack cocaine in the Twin Cities for up to $50 in Greater Minnesota.

Five of the remaining defendants have been sentenced and the remaining defendant is currently awaiting sentencing.
