Freeport Man Takes 2nd at National Carpentry Competition

FREEPORT - A Freeport man is one of the best carpenters in the country. Alex Engelmeyer finished second in the National Carpentry Competition at the Annual Skills USA Championships in Louisville, Kentucky.

The competition featured 68 secondary and postsecondary competitors. Contestants were judged on job interview skills, written test scores, safety, craftsmanship, and proper use of tools.

Engelmeyer earlier finished first at the Minnesota State Skills competition.
