ST. CLOUD - Anyone in need of some legal advice can stop by the St. Cloud Public Library on Tuesday afternoons. Central Minnesota Legal Services hosts a free clinic from noon until 1:00 p.m. each week.

Jessica Mastellar is the Volunteer Attorney Coordinator. She says each week different attorneys that specialize in different areas of law are available to help you.

The main areas are family law, so things like divorce, child support, and custody.  But we also have attorneys that do stuff like debt collection and garnishment.  It is only civil legal issues, so no criminal matters.

Masteller says you do need to sign up ahead of time, and you get 15 minutes.  And you should bring your court forms with you.

If they have specific questions that they want to make sure they ask, write down a list of questions beforehand.  When you come to the clinic we do gather some general information like contact information, financial information, and then have you sign a waiver indicating that it is only a legal advice clinic and the attorney is not agreeing to represent you.

She says their slots do fill up quickly, so you need to call and make an appointment as soon as possible. Their phone number is (320) 257-4873.
