Reverend Henry Francis Fehrenbacher was born on August 19, 1920, in Saint Cloud, MN. He was the son of Henry and Martha Engel Fehrenbacher. Father Fehrenbacher attended Holy Angels Grade School, St. Cloud, MN, Cathedral High School, St. Cloud, MN and Saint John’s University, Collegeville, MN. He received his seminary training at Saint John’s Seminary, Collegeville, MN. Father Fehrenbacher was ordained on January 25, 1948, at the Cathedral of Saint Mary, St. Cloud, MN by The Most Reverend Peter W. Bartholome. He celebrated his First Mass on February 1, 1948, in Saint Paul’s Church, St. Cloud, MN.

Father Fehrenbacher served in the following pastoral assignments: assistant pastor: St. Joseph, Pierz, March 1948-July 1948; St. Mary’s Cathedral, July 1948-July 1950; St. Mary, Alexandria, July 1950-August 1951; Sacred Heart, Staples, August 1951-June 1953; pastor: St. Donatus, Brooten, and Immaculate Conception, Sedan, June 1953-September 1960; St. Joseph, Foxhome and St. Joseph, Brushvale, September 1960-June 1970; St. Thomas, Kent, June 1970-August 1975. Father Fehrenbacher lived in New York from 1975 until 2012, and while in New York he taught at Baruch College of City University. During his priesthood he also wrote several books and various articles. Father Fehrenbacher retired June 1, 1990.

Father Fehrenbacher died on September 18, 2015, at Saint Benedict Center, St. Cloud, MN. A Vigil Service will be held on September 28, 2015, at 7:00 p.m. at the Church of Saint Paul, St. Cloud, MN.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Church of Saint Paul, St. Cloud, Minnesota, on September 29, 2015, at 1:00 p.m. with Bishop Donald Kettler presiding. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, St. Cloud, MN.

Father Fehrenbacher was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Martha, siblings Margaret (Gilker) Wahlberg, Bernice Westereng, Elaine Fischer, Donald, Louis, Michael and Richard Fehrenbacher.
