COLD SPRING -- A former Stearns County Engineer has died. Mitch Anderson was 60. Anderson, died Sunday at his Cold Spring home due to heart failure complicated by advanced Parkinson's Disease.

Anderson graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1976. He worked for several years as an engineer for the city of St. Cloud and an engineering consulting firm. He became Stearns County Engineer in 1999 and retired from the position in 2012.

During his time as Stearns County Engineer, Anderson supervised the construction of the Sauk Rapids Bridge, was instrumental in the 3rd Street North expansion and the West Metro Corridor project. He was given the Outstanding County Engineer Award by the Minnesota County Engineer's Association in 2010.

Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday at the Wenner Funeral Home in Cold Spring. Funeral services will be at the St. Boniface Church in Cold Spring at 11:00 a.m. Friday.
