ST. CLOUD -- A former state representative from St. Cloud is trying his hand at state politics again.

Republican Jim Knoblach has announced he is running against incumbent Zach Dorholt in House District 14B this fall.

Knoblach was elected to the Minnesota House in 1994 and served six terms until 2006 when he chose not to run for re-election. Knoblach chaired the House Capital Investment Committee for four years and also chaired the House Ways and Means Committee for another four years.

Knoblach is a small business owner who graduated from St. Cloud Apollo before getting degrees at St. John's University, Harvard and Georgetown. He also is active in various local charities.

Knoblach says he wants to work on improving the local economy through more transportation funding, better economic development programs and improved tax policies.
