Former Sauk Rapids-Rice, Minnesota State-Mankato and St. Cloud Rox pitcher Jason Hoppe signed a contract with the independent St. Paul Saints Tuesday. Hoppe made the announcement on Twitter.

Following a stellar career with the Storm, Hoppe excelled at MSU-Mankato where he compiled a 19-5 record with an ERA of 2.01. Hoppe struck out 212 batters in 197 innings pitched.

The Rice native was selected in the 27th round (816th overall) by the Texas Rangers in the 2014 MLB draft. Hoppe posted a 2-6 record with a 4.66 earned run average in three seasons of Class A baseball.
