Former Minnesota Senate Leader Koch Won’t Run in 6th
ST. PAUL (AP) – Another well-known Republican is dropping out of the race to replace Michele Bachmann in Minnesota’s 6th Congressional District.
Amy Koch, the former state Senate majority leader from Buffalo, says Tuesday she’s not running. Koch, who left her leadership post and later the Senate after 2011 revelations of her extramarital affair with an aide, says she got numerous contacts from people encouraging her to run.
But Koch says after personal reflection she decided not to. She left the door open for a future return to politics. Koch now owns and runs a bar and bowling alley in Maple Lake.
Koch says she backs former state representative and GOP candidate for governor Tom Emmer in the race. Emmer is expected to announce his bid Wednesday evening at an event in Delano.
