A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, August 14, 2014 at St. Mary's Cathedral Lower Church in St. Cloud, MN for Florence Catherine (Spanier) Schroeder age 76, who died on Friday, August 8, 2014. The Reverend Anthony Oelrich will be the celebrant. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery in St. Cloud.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, August 13, 2014 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and also on Thursday morning from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM all at the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Cloud. Parish Prayers will be at 7:00 PM on Wednesday evening.

Florence was born on March 27, 1938 in St. Martin, MN, the daughter of Jacob and Theckla (Ehresmann) Spanier. She grew up in St. Martin on the family farm and attended high school at St. Francis High School in Little Falls, MN.

After school she moved to St. Cloud where she worked at Wimmer Opticians. On May 2, 1959 she was united in marriage to Denis A. Schroeder at St. Martin Catholic Church in St. Martin, MN. They made their home in St. Cloud where they raised their four children. After Denis died on September 1, 1979, Florence went to work as a secretary at Roosevelt Grade School in St. Cloud and retired from there many years later.

She enjoyed visiting family and friends, playing cards, attending the parish festivals in St. Martin, traveling, and watching the Twins. She enjoyed hosting a cousins' breakfast in her later years.

Florence was a member of St. Mary's Cathedral Catholic Church in St. Cloud and most recently attended St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Jordan, MN.

In addition to her parents and her husband Denis, she was preceded in death by her daughter Kathryn and her special friend Bill Warman.

She is survived by four children, Jeff (Pat) Schroeder of Prior Lake, MN, Denise (Rodney) Andersen of Carver, MN, Brian (Susan) Schroeder of Eagan, MN, and Scott (Kristine Moncada) of Richfield, MN, ten grandchildren, Lesa Marie, Scott, Violet, Jacob, Nikolaus, Veronika, Shoal, Annabella, John and Mary Rose, three great grandchildren, Beckett, Nora, and Jane, and one brother, Harvey (Pat) Spanier of West St. Paul, MN, and many other relatives and friends.
