Florence A. “Flo” Loso, 92, St. Joseph

January 10, 1925 - November 10, 2017

A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in St. Joseph for Florence A. “Flo” Loso, age 92, of St. Joseph who passed away on Friday, November 10, 2017 at her home, surrounded by family. Reverend Jerome Tupa, OSB will officiate. Burial will take place in the parish cemetery.

Family and friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday and after 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday at the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Joseph. Parish Prayers will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.

Flo was born on January 10, 1925 in St. Anthony, Minnesota to Herman and Anna (Lehner) Vorgert. She married Michael Loso on March 29, 1944 in Arizona and they raised 12 children together. They lived all of their married lives in St. Joseph. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Parish, St. Joseph VFW, American Legion, and the Senior Citizens. She worked at Kennedy Elementary as a cook for 10 years and loved working outside her home.

In their later years, Flo and Mike traveled to Texas every winter. They enjoyed many good years of family activities and get-togethers with friends and relatives. Just prior to Mike’s passing away on November 20, 2015, they moved to her cute little “cottage” at Millstream Village in St. Joseph and began a new life without Mike. Flo loved to crochet, read, garden and was a fabulous cook.

She was gentle, funny, hardworking, kind, generous, and was loved by all who knew her. Most of all, she was proud of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and will be remembered as a caring mother and grandmother.

She is survived by her children, Tamie (Bob) Sorenson of Minneapolis, Lynda (Tom) Nordang of Ontonagon, MI, Mike (Barb) Loso of Maple Grove, Mary Jo (Larry) Beuning of St. Cloud, Bob (Noreen) of St. Joseph, Janet (Kim) Fischer of Rhinelander, WI, Terry (Linda) Loso of St. Joseph, Tim (Pam) Loso of St. Joseph, Loren (Sue) Loso of Cold Spring, Neil (Patty) Loso of St. Joseph, Norma (Dave) Koetter of Avon, and Steven (Lisa) Loso of St. Joseph; 32 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; and two great-great granddaughters; sisters-in-law, Betty Ehresman, Grace Loso and Arlene Vorgert; and special friend at the cottage, Vi Whalen.

She was preceded in death by her husband; grandson, Billy Nordang; granddaughter, Nikki Fischer; brothers, Roman, Alois, Alfred, Ervin, and Walter Vorgert; and sisters, Dorothy Stuntebeck, Monica Brandt, Edvina Jones, Susan Althaus, Leona Davis and Marian Cichy.

A special thank you to all of you who have befriended and made Flo’s life so happy over the past years.
