WILLOW RIVER (AP) - Flooding from severe weather this week has canceled a camp for children with HIV and AIDS in eastern Minnesota.

About 70 campers from around the country were expected at Camp Heartland in Pine County for a weeklong getaway. But the Kettle River has flooded the only access road to the camp.

One Heartland Center in Willow River hosts camps during the summer for children and young people, including youth identifying as LGBT and those living in transitional housing.

A  church group that rented the camp this week is landlocked. One Heartland executive director Patrick Kindler says everyone is safe and waiting for the water to recede.
