ST. PAUL  (AP) - The state Department of Veterans Affairs says flood relief grants are available for veterans in about half of Minnesota's 87 counties.

Department officials say veterans, surviving spouses and families may be eligible for reimbursement assistance funds of up to $750 if no other state or federal assistance was given for spring flooding.

Applicants should have a copy of their expense receipts and should apply by June 30. The local county veteran services officer has more information.

Teams from the Minnesota Department of Public Safety and the Federal Emergency Management Agency are busy assessing flood damage in the state.
