ST. CLOUD - The St. Cloud Regional Airport is adding a new destination.

In a news release today (Wednesday), the Greater St. Cloud Development Corporation says the airport will add an additional leisure service destination.  However, details about where and what airline have not been released.

A news conference has been scheduled for Tuesday at 8:30 a.m.

Last fall Allegiant Airlines began twice-weekly flights to-and-from the Gateway Airport in Mesa, Arizona.

Spokesman Al Kremers says "we are pleased with the overwhelming success we are experiencing with our current air service" He says, "It's having a demonstrated impact on our negotiations for additional business and leisure routes."

Supporters of the St. Cloud Regional Airport have an ultimate goal of regular daily flights to-and-from Chicago's O'Hare Airport.
