SARTELL -- Sartell's newest city council member was sworn in Monday, nearly one week after being elected.

Ryan Fitzhum will fill in on an interim basis on the council until his official term starts in January.

The vacant council seat became available when Amy Braig-Lindstrom announced she is quitting back in September.

At that time the council voted to appoint the top vote-getter in the elections to finish the term left by Braig-Lindstrom.

Fitzhum received 34 percent of the vote during last weeks elections. He's a Sartell native and has been very active in the community, serving as a member of the Sartell volunteer fire department for eight years, the planning commission for four years and many other area organizations.

Mike Chisum will join Fitzhum in January after also being voted to the council.
