SARTELL -- This week in our "Fitness Friday" series on WJON, we take a swim in the pool and learn the benefits of water therapy at Rapid Recovery and Aquatic Center.

Located at the Country Manor Campus in Sartell, Rapid Recovery and Aquatic Center is the home to the only zero depth floor pool in the area.

Director of services Sara Briedenbach says pool therapy can help rehab patients in many different ways.

"The warm water is very beneficial to clients especially patients with sore joints or range of motion limitations," says Briedenbach.

The zero depth floor is also a treadmill which helps clients move at their own pace in water resistance.

She says the pool also has cameras which allows them to critique your movement while your in the water.

"This is especially helpful when we are specifically working on walking patterns and how people are moving their legs," says Briedenbach.

Rapids Recovery sees both inpatients and outpatients including members of the community who use their services.

She says the pool provides patients with an alternative training style most patients couldn't do on land.

"It allows us to see people and do stuff they may not be able to do on land because of weight-baring restrictions but can do in the water," says Briedenbach.

She says pool therapy is valuable to patients of all ages and often times once they get in they don't want to get out.
