DASSEL TOWNSHIP -- A Dassel man lost his round baler, but escaped injury after the farm implement caught fire Wednesday.

The Meeker County Sheriff's Office says 25-year-old Nicholas Holm called authorities after he noticed smoke coming from the baler. Holm was able to unhook the baler from the tractor before it became engulfed.

The incident happened at around 5:45 p.m. in a farm field off 250th Street in Dassel Township. The cause of the fire is believed to be mechanical or electrical failure.

The sheriff's office says about a 1/4 acre of the field was damaged by the fire and the baler is a total loss.
