Fire Burns Hundreds of Hay Bales Near St. Stephen

ST. STEPHEN -- Fire crews were called out this (Thursday) morning after witnesses reported several hay bales on fire near St. Stephen.

The call came in at about 9:15 a.m. and alerted authorities to the fire in Brockway Township.

St. Stephen Fire & Rescue responded to the call and enlisted the Mutual Aid help of the Holdingford, Rice, Sartell & St. Joseph Fire Departments.

The fire was at at 41052 block of County Road 118 a mile northwest of town.

The Stearns County Sheriff's office says approximately 200 hay bales burned in the fire on the Lyle Schefers property.

The cause of the blaze is unknown at this time.
