GOLDEN VALLEY (AP) - A truck driver from south-central Minnesota is dead after a fiery crash in a western Minneapolis suburb.

Authorities say the side dump truck collided with a minivan at a busy Golden Valley intersection Friday. The truck then toppled a signal light post at one of the corners before being engulfed in flames.

State Patrol Lt. Eric Roeske says police officers and bystanders tried to rescue the driver, but the driver was trapped because the door was jammed.

The patrol says the truck driver was a 64-year-old man from Le Sueur. His name was not immediately released.

Roeske says the van was turning left against a red turn arrow. The truck swerved but could not avoid the van.

The van driver was in serious but stable condition.
