ST. CLOUD - A group of "Fat Guys and Hot Chicks" is looking for volleyball teams. The group of friends started out as a running team, and has since grown into a non-profit fundraising machine.

Spokesman Mitch Eickhoff says they decided to organize their first event - a Trot For Tots in Sauk Rapids - four years ago.

We just kind of wanted to get active and be a part of the community and started running and raising money. When we decided to put on our original event, it kind of grew bigger than we anticipated, and it took force as a fundraising group.

Eickhoff says "Fat Guys and Hot Chicks" has raised over $40,000 in the four years that they've been existence. One-hundred-percent of the money raised goes to local organizations, like: Anna Marie's Alliance, Toys For Tots, and Tanner's Team Foundation.

We want to make sure all the money stays in central Minnesota. And then we evaluate the group and who's in real need in this area. Our events we like to tie into a certain charity because it helps promote them if people see where it's going.

Eickhoff says if they see there's a benefit for someone in need in the community they will sometimes make a donation to them as well.

They continue to grow their fundraising events. Besides the Trot For Tots, they also do a golf tournament, a 5K in Cold Spring, and a Bean Bag Tournament.

Also, new this year, is a volleyball tournament next Saturday, September 10th at Ducks Pub in St. Cloud. There are still openings for your team.  They have about seven teams signed-up so far, with room for a total of 14. It starts at 9:00 a.m. that day.
