UPDATE: Sheriff: Body Found in Douglas County Field Likely Missing Woman

ALEXANDRIA (AP) - Sheriff's authorities in west-central Minnesota say a body found in a farm field is likely that of a missing college student.

Douglas County Sheriff Troy Wolbersen said in a statement Tuesday that investigators believe Laura Ann Schwendemann's remains have been found, but that they are waiting for further information from the Midwest Medical Examiner's Office.

Sheriff's officials continue to investigate how the woman died. Wolbersen has previously said a man last seen with the 18-year-old woman is under investigation. The University of Minnesota, Morris student was last seen Oct. 14 at a gas station in Alexandria with the man.
