ST. CLOUD - A new restaurant offering American and Mexican food is planning to move into the former Old Country Buffet building this summer.

St. Cloud Family Restaurant will be open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Owner Rufino Morales says they're going through the liquor license process so they can offer a full bar and Mexican-style drinks like margaritas.

St. Cloud City Clerk Gregg Engdahl says it usually takes 4-6 weeks before the city council takes action on a liquor license application. This gives several departments a chance to review the applicatiopn and do background checks.

In this case, the restaurant will likely appear on the council agenda for June 20th or Jully 11th.

Morales says they plan to have a very open menu featuring items like omelets, fajitas, chicken, steak, salads and soups. Breakfast options will be served all day.

A specific opening date hasn't been set. Morales says the restaurant will be sit-down style and they hope to open sometime this summer. Equipment will likely start moving in next week while Morales works with the city to finalize plans.

The building is at at 3333 Division Street in St. Cloud in the Midtown Square. The St. Cloud Old Country Buffet closed down in early-March.
