ST. PAUL  (AP) - Family and friends of a 25-year-old St. Paul soldier killed in Afghanistan are planning to share memories of him at a news conference.

Army Spc. Joseph Kennedy was killed Friday when enemy forces attacked his unit with small arms. Funeral arrangements have not been publicly announced.

The National Guard says family members and friends plan to speak at an 11 a.m. news conference Tuesday at the Inver Grove Heights Armory.

Kennedy's mother, Valerie, already released a statement through the military. She says her son "lived life with the volume turned up full blast" and that the family is proud of him and his military service.

Kennedy enlisted in the Army in 2009.
