Families Enjoy Beautiful Day At Highway Department [VIDEO]

WAITE PARK -- Sunny skies and nice temperatures made for a nice backdrop for families visiting the Stearns County Highway Department's open house event this morning.

"We couldn't have picked a better day," says Stearns County Engineer Jodi Teich. "The [turnout] has been steady all day long."

The open house is in celebration of National County Government Month and featured displays of the county's large road work vehicles.

Teich says the purpose of the event is to give the community a chance to connect to their local government.

"We wanted to display to the public what [it is] we do," Teich says. "[They] can come in and see some of our project pictures and understand what we have for upcoming construction."

But Teich says the best part of the open house is seeing how much fun the kids have checking out the displays.

"The kids are having fun," Teich says."They get to see snowplows and talk to some of our employees about what they do every day and look at some of the equipment we use."
