UNDATED – Forecasters say temperatures will struggle to climb above zero across much of the state again today (Tuesday).

The dangerous cold forced some area schools to start late this morning.

The extreme cold has also meant a busy day for AAA Minnesota.  Spokeswoman Gail Weinholzer says they handled about 900 calls from motorists on Monday, which is a bout twice the normal volume.  She says that number was already at about 600 calls statewide as of 9:00 a.m. this (Tuesday) morning.
