MELROSE - Voters in western Stearns county have a few more days to vote by absentee ballot in a special primary election for County Commissioner.

The Stearns County Auditor's Office and the Clerk's Office in the City of Melrose will be open tomorrow (Saturday) from 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. and also until 5:00 p.m. on Monday.

Monday is the last day to cast an absentee ballot.

The special primary election for County Commissioner District 5 is Tuesday.

There are five candidates on the ballot: Jeff Bertram of Paynesville, Alan Loch of Belgrade, Brad Kirckof of Sauk Centre, Dave Gamradt of Sauk Centre, and Steve Notch of Freeport.

The top two vote-getters will move on to the general election in January.

The seat became vacant earlier this year, when longtime county commissioner Don Otte died of cancer.
