STILLWATER (AP) — Officials say a psychological exam found a Minnesota man incompetent to stand trial on charges he killed a 9-year-old boy in a random shooting last month.

The evaluation of 34-year-old Nhan Lap Tran of Oakdale is not public. However, Washington County Attorney Pete Orput says the examiner concluded Tran is incompetent to stand trial.

Orput asked the court for another evaluation. Tran's attorney has not entered a plea for Tran.

Members of Tran's family were at Monday's hearing. They released a statement expressing grief for the family of Devin Aryal, the boy Tran is accused of killing.

The shooting rampage happened on Feb. 11 in Oakdale. Devin died in the shootings, and his mother and another woman were wounded.

The next hearing is May 10.
