Additional Information

Has your daughter ever considered being an astronaut, a fire fighter, a police woman? How about a truck driver? Girl Scouts of Minnesota and Wisconsin Lakes and Pines together with Brenny Transportation in St. Cloud are encouraging girls in Grades 1-5 to consider careers in the typically male-dominated field by attending the Transportation Day: Girls Driving America event.

Girls will get a chance to talk to women in the transportation profession and even climb into the cab of a big rig truck to experience life in the driver’s seat! Joyce Brenny, Brenny Transportation, and Minnesota Truck Association Director, said, “Brenny Transportation is excited to be hosting the ‘Girls Drive America’ Girl Scout event on Saturday, May 6! Transportation is an exciting industry and we want to help girls learn more about the opportunities! Girls can grow up to be safety managers, fleet managers, maintenance techs, and YES, TRUCK DRIVERS, TOO!”

Girl Scouts’ Program Specialist Alyssa Kunkel is coordinating the girl’s involvement. “In Girl Scouts, we help open girl’s minds to the endless career opportunities open to her, including the transportation industry. We’re grateful to Brenny for giving the girls this hands-on experience.”

This event will take place May 6 from 9a m to 12:30 pm at Brenny Transportation. Pre-registration is necessary. For more information, contact Girl Scouts at 320 252-2952.
