SCSU Day of Percussion is Dec.

St. CLOUD, Minnesota — The 2018 St. Cloud State University Day of Percussion is Saturday, Dec. 1 in the Performing Arts Center.

The day-long event is free to participants interested in percussion, who need to register by Nov. 28 at https://scsu.mn/2S1oFnr.

The Day of Percussion offers an opportunity to explore aspects of free improvisation on percussion instruments and take part in a side-by-side recording session with St. Cloud State percussionists using an animated graphic score.

The day features multi-instrumentalist, music producer and studio engineer Nate Wood. Wood is the founding member and drummer for the Grammy nominated quintet Kneebody. The group’s recording 12 Songs of Charles Ives was nominated Best Classical Crossover Album in 2009.

Participants will explore the crazy world of Nate Wood, and his uncanny abilities as a multi-instrumentalist who plays drum set, bass guitar, keyboards and sings – all at the same time.

The day will conclude with a public performance by Wood featuring selections from his fOUR project at 3:30 p.m. Dec. 1 in the Ruth Gant Recital Hall in the Performing Arts Center. Admission is free.
