Additional Information

Benjamin Winchester, a rural sociologist from the University of Minnesota Extension, will present “Rewriting the Rural Narrative” at Breakfast Club on Wednesday, December 12, at the Stearns History Museum. The program will begin at 9 a.m.

We think we know the story of rural America. Small towns are dying as schools, businesses, churches, and clinics continue to close. While this deficit framework dominates our perception and discussions, it’s simply not the case. Winchester will explain that our rural landscape is rich, diverse and brimming with positive changes that require our society to rewrite the small-town narrative. Please see the attached press release for more information.

If you have additional questions regarding Breakfast Club or the presentation, please contact Program Curator Caitlin Carlson at the Museum. Her contact information is in the upper right-hand corner of the attached press release.
