CAMP RIPLEY, Minn. – The Minnesota National Guard training site seven miles north of Little Falls, Minnesota will host their biennial Open House and Community Appreciation Day on Sunday Sept. 17, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

“This is one of our most significant events welcoming the communities inside the gates for a look at what Camp Ripley and the Minnesota National Guard are all about,” said Mr. Don Warner, Public Affairs Officer at Camp Ripley.

Every two years Camp Ripley hosts an open house and community appreciation event that showcases the equipment used by the National Guard and the inter-agency partners that utilize the 53,000 acre state facility. Additionally each event has its own unique theme that recognizes the accomplishments made by the men and women, both past and present, which make up our military.

Fixed wing and rotary aircraft of the Minnesota National Guard, civilian emergency response vehicles, law enforcement and state agencies exhibits and Military vehicles will be displayed throughout the open house grounds beginning at 10 a.m. on Sunday Sept. 17, 2017.

A ceremony honoring Korean War Veterans and their families will take place starting at 1 p.m. near the grandstand. In honor of their service, Korean War Veterans will be recognized during a ceremony welcoming them home from a ‘forgotten war’ that took place over 65 years ago. Veterans, families and friends are welcome to join us for this event.

A vintage car show will also be available for public viewing as well as Humvee rides and a large variety of informational booths, food vendors and activities for adults and children

Following the day’s activities, Col. Scott St. Sauver, Camp Ripley Garrison Commander will conduct a Change of Commander ceremony at 1:30 p.m., passing on the duties and responsibilities of Garrison Commander.

The public is welcome to join us for this event, a valid driver’s license is required for access through the gate, parking near the activities will be directed by the Military Police and handicap parking is available.
