Cancer Benefit and Silent Auction for Jeff and Jayne Roering

When:  Saturday, Aug. 18^th from 1-6pm
Where:  Backyard Garden Creations - 310 Central Ave. N. in Watkins MN

Food:  Sloppy Joes, beans, salad and potato salad

Suggested Donation:  $8.00 for adults, $5.00 children 4-12 and kids 4 and under are free
Fundraiser will include sign painting, games and a silent auction.

Jayne Roering (Emslander) was diagnosed with Ovarian cancer in 2012.  She has been battling it ever since.  She has been receiving chemo treatments since 2012 continuously.  She couldn't tolerate the chemo anymore and is now going to the Mayo Clinic for a clinic drug trial.  In the last month, she has been hospitalized 18 of the last 30 days due to complications from her cancer.  She has been unable to work during this time.

Jeff Roering was also diagnosed with Kidney cancer in 2014.  He had his right kidney surgically removed.  At the same time, Jeff had a bone infection causing him to have his big toe amputated.   On his last scan in December, his Kidney cancer had returned, and he is also receiving chemo every two weeks to fight his cancer.  Due to complications from the chemo, Jeff has developed sores on the bottom of his feet which has limited his ability to work.  Jeff is going back to the doctor in a few days for an MRI to see if further surgery or amputation is needed due to his foot sores.
