Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 26, 2014 at St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church in St. Augusta for Erwin H. “Ike” Terwey, age 85, who passed away peacefully at the V.A. Medical Center in St. Cloud on Tuesday, September 23, 2014. Reverend Jose Edayadiyil will officiate. Burial will take place in the parish cemetery with military honors.

Family and friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday (TODAY) at the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Cloud. Visitation will continue after 10:00 a.m. on Friday at the St. Mary Help of Christians Parish Center in St. Augusta.
Ike was born on July 23, 1929 in St. Joseph, MN to John and Mary (Mertes) Terwey. He grew up and worked on the family farm. Later he went to work at Cold Spring Granite. Ike married the love of his life, Delphine Guggenberger on June 28, 1951. He served in the United States Army from April 9, 1952 to March 10, 1954. After serving in the Army, they farmed near St. Joseph and later moved to St. Cloud where he worked as a carpenter until his retirement in 1989. Ike was a member of the St. Joseph American Legion Post #328, the Moose Lodge #1400, and St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church.

He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, fishing, hunting, snow shoeing, playing cards, and traveling. Ike loved helping out on people’s projects such as; pouring cement, building houses or sheds and whatever else that was being built.

Ike is survived by his children, Claudette Hinnenkamp (Richard) of Melrose, Clyde Terwey (Marylou) of Richmond, Doris Frieler (Gerry) of Melrose, Debbie Voigt (Steve) of St. Augusta, Kathy Terwey of Crystal, Bruce Terwey (Shelly) of St. Augusta, Tim Terwey (Cindy) of Clearwater; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and sister, Janette Neu.

Preceded in death by his wife, Delphine Terwey in 2012; daughter, Pamela Terwey; son, Peter Terwey; grandson, Dane Terwey; and 10 brothers and sisters.
Memorials are preferred.
