Mass of Christian Burial will be 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Cold Spring, MN for Ermilda “Midge” Schmitt, age 93, who died Friday at the Country Manor in Sartell. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

Relatives and friends may call from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday, October 17, 2016 at the Wenner Funeral Home in Cold Spring, MN, and from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home Tuesday morning. Parish prayers will be at 4:00 p.m. Monday. The Christian Women will pray a rosary at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday. Arrangements are with Wenner Funeral Home in Cold Spring, MN.

Midge was born in St. Cloud, MN to John Hengel and Margaret Lenger. She married Emil L. Schmitt on March 8, 1941 in St. Anthony Church in St. Cloud, MN. Midge was a homemaker and loved her family and friends dearly.

Survivors include her children, Jerry (Arlis) Schmitt and his son, Jeff, Mary Kern and her children, Jody, Jesse, and Josh; and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Emil Schmitt; daughter-in-law, Kathy Schmitt; son-in-law, Tom Kern; granddaughters, Deborah Schmitt and Jacqueline Kern; siblings, Mayme Spoden, Evelyn Bukowski, Ann Jaeger Sovereign, Nippy Hartmann, Tony Hengel, Boonie Hengel, Honey Hengel, and Lucille Gordon.

The family would like to extend a very special “Thank You” to Jan Ehrlichman for her care and friendship of our mother over the years. Also a special “Thank You” to Country Manor Pioneer Village Staff and Heartland Hospice team for the excellent care that was given to Midge.
