Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, December 17, 2016 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Rice for Erma K. Popp, age 97, of Rice, who died Tuesday at her home in Rice. Rev. Thomas Becker and Rev. Kenneth Popp will concelebrate and burial will be in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Friday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Rice. Christian Women and Rice American Legion Post 473 Auxiliary will pray at 7:00 p.m. followed by parish prayers at 7:30 Friday at the church in Rice. Arrangements have been entrusted to Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home of Sauk Rapids.

Erma was born November 14, 1919 in St. Cloud to Casper & Ursula (Mauer) Thene. She married Roman Popp on February 4, 1947 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sauk Rapids. Erma was a homemaker and lived in Rice most all of her life. She helped her husband, Roman on the farm and operated the chicken and Christmas tree farms as well. Erma was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church where she was Past President of the Christian Women and was a great cook for many of the priests who served there. She was also a member of the Rice American Legion Auxiliary Post 473 and the PTA. Erma enjoyed gardening, embroidery, knitting, crocheting, flowers, cake decorating, painting and reading. She was a quiet, energetic, fiesty person with a strong faith. Erma had a true love for her family and her Lord. She was a hard working woman with a great sense of humor and quick wit.

Survivors include her children, Kathy (Tim) Brastrup of Baxter, Bill (LuAnn) of Rice, Ted (Bonnie) of Rice, Joel (Shirley) of Rice; sister, Delphine Gall of Pierz; grandchildren, Ann (Brian) Scheinost Amy (Dennis) Edholm and Jim Diethelm, Matthew Brastrup, Jess (Troy) Foss, Simon (Jennifer) and Alex (Tabitha) Popp, Michelle (Aaron) Rosenberger, Derek (Fiance, A.J.) and Isaac (Sara) Popp, Missy (Korey) Dobmeier, Jonathan Osendorf and 14 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Roman on December 7, 2001; daughter, Karole (Vern) Diethelm; brother, Clarence; sisters, Lucetta Kroll and Marcella Long.

Memorials are preferred to CentraCare Hospice.
