ST. CLOUD - Now is your chance to enter the 4th Annual St. Cloud Sidewalk Poetry Contest. The St. Cloud Arts Commission, Community Development Division, and the Department of Public Works are inviting poets of all ages, and experience levels to submit their works for the contest.

Submitted poems must be 240 characters or less, and must be appropriate for all audiences. The deadline for entry is on Friday, May 22nd at 4:00 p.m. All St. Cloud residents can submit two original poems. They must be in English, or include an English translation, and fit into six lines with forty characters per line. As part of the contest there will be a free poetry writing workshop this Thursday at the St. Cloud Library starting at 6:00 p.m.

Entries can be turned into the Planning Office on the third floor of city hall, or in the Poetry in Sidewalks entry box at the St. Cloud Library. Entries can also be submitted by mail, or email.

The winners for this year's contest will be announced on the St. Cloud City Website on Monday, June 1st at 2:00 p.m. The winning entries will then be put added this summer in new sidewalks being poured by the Department of Public Works. Up to five winners will receive $100, and be picked by a panel of community members, and writers.

The 2012 winning entries can be found along 25th Avenue South, 10th Avenue North, and 11th Avenue North. The 2013 winners are in residential areas along 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th Streets North. Last year's winners are printed on the the sidewalks in the Seberger Park Neighborhood.
