ST. CLOUD - For the 8th year in a row, St. Cloud's Black Box Theatre is staging a central Minnesota original - "Scrooge, The Musical."

The ornate show, based on the timeless Dickens classic, includes a 20 member local ensemble cast of children to adults.

Many of the actors have been part of most, or even all of the productions. This includes Brenda Litzinger and Patrick Bednarz, who play the roles of Mr. and Mrs. Fezziwig.

Both performers began their involvement with the show in roles other than the ones they're playing this season. They say many of the long-time actors have played multiple characters in the show.

"Scrooge the Musical" is unique in that all of the music and lyrics were written by late Cathedral instructor Reverend Christopher Trussel, with arrangements by popular local performer George Mauer.

Bednarz says the pride surrounding the original work has created a culture of actors who return year after year, and enjoy working together.

Scrooge the Musical opens Thursday at 7 p.m. and will perform three more shows through Sunday at the Black Box Theatre.
