Elvira Ruth Halvorson, 84, died on Friday, April 15th. Her funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 23rd at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Eden Valley. A visitation will be held on Friday, April 22nd from 4 – 7:30 p.m. at the Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home in Eden Valley and 1 hour prior to the funeral service at the church. Burial will be in the Eden Lake Cemetery.

Elvira was born on August 17, 1931 to George and Hilda (Helmstetter) Haag. She was born anew through the rite of Holy Baptism on August 30, 1931 by Pastor Fred Pasche at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Eden Valley, Minnesota. She was taught Luther’s Small Catechism by Pastor Hugh Krieg and confirmed her faith on April 2, 1944.

On September 26, 1950 she was united in marriage to Dale Halvorson. This union was blessed with 3 children: Sharon Lee, Robert George (died at birth) and Robert Dale. Elvira gave her children every chance in life to be productive and strong. Her grandchildren, Chelsie, Abigale and Shalie were so very much loved.

Elvira’s religious life, her church activities and her strong belief in the Lord were very important to her. Dale and Elvira joined Redemption Lutheran Church in Bloomington, Minnesota in 1958 and her children attended elementary school there as well. Elvira served on the Hospitality/Funeral Committee, Treasurer of the Women’s Guild, member of the Senior Choir and the Prayer Chain.

Elvira worked for many years at Control Data/General Dynamics as Administrative Receptionist/Security Technician. She served on the Employee Management Club Board, managed the Control Data Singers and organized modeling shows at the company. She also worked part time for Clinique of New York as a consultant for Dayton’s, Marshall Fields and Macy’s. She modeled for many stores in the Minneapolis area.

Her hobbies were singing, dancing, modeling, decorating, photography, sewing, roller-skating with the traveling group known as the the Westernaires, skating, water skiing, golfing, sailing and tennis. She enjoyed teaching whatever she could to her children and grandchildren. Elvira loved spending time at her lake cabin in the summer.

She is survived by her children, Sharon Lee (Ric) McCarney/Fuchs of Paynesville, Robert Dale (Jodie) Halvorson of Grove City; grandchildren Chelsie (Cody), Abigale and Shalie Halvorson; joyfully awaited great-grandchild due near her birthday this August; brothers George, Ralph (Romelle), Melvin (Diane) and Raymond (Karen) and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends and fellow church members. Elvira was preceded in death by her parents; infant son Robert George; brothers Rueben, Delbert, Marvin and Lawrence; sister Joyce and sister-in-law Lois.
