Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM on Saturday, June 6, 2015 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in St. Joseph for Elmer P. Reber, age 91, of St. Joseph, who passed away on Tuesday, June 2, 2015 at Quiet Oaks Hospice House in St. Augusta. Reverend Jerome Tupa, OSB and Reverend Eberhard Schefers will concelebrate. Burial will take place in the parish cemetery.

Family and friends may call from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Friday, June 5, 2015 and after 9:30 AM on Saturday all at the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Joseph. Parish Prayers will be at 6:30 PM on Friday at the funeral home in St. Joseph.

Elmer was born May 1, 1924 in St. Joseph, Minnesota to Joseph and Margaret (Weyland) Reber. He married Lorean M. Kelly on October 8, 1956 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Brandon, Minnesota. He attended St. John’s Prep in Collegeville. He worked as a wood worker, eventually retiring from Opportunity Training Center in St. Cloud. Elmer also served on the St. Joseph Volunteer Fire Department, and was a charter member of the St. Joseph Rod and Gun Club. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.

Elmer enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was also known as a great practical joker and story teller, with a quick wit.

Survivors include his children, Mary (Tony) Generous of St. Joseph, Shirley (Will) Oberton of Winona and Sharon (Tracy) Johnson of Plymouth; eight grandchildren; four great grandchildren; sister, Valeria Roeder of St. Joseph and other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife; siblings, Harold, Roman, Del Super, Gary, Donald, and Dorothy Marthaler.

A special thanks to the staff of Quiet Oaks Hospice House for their loving care for both Elmer and Lorean “Kelly.” In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to All Saints Academy, St. Joseph or Quiet Oaks Hospice House.
