Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 am, Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, Long Prairie for Ellene F. Muenchow, age 86, of Long Prairie who passed away on Sunday at CentraCare Health Systems-Long Prairie. Rev. Omar Guanchez will officiate and burial will take place in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Long Prairie. Family and friends may call from 4-8 pm, Tuesday, April 28, 2015 and after 8 am Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at the Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home-Stein Chapel, Long Prairie. St. Mary’s Catholic Women will pray the rosary at 4pm and parish prayers at 7 pm at the funeral home on Tuesday.

Ellene Florence Larson was born November 8, 1928 in Burnhamville Township, Todd County, Minnesota, the daughter of Edward and Stacia (Beihn) Larson. She grew up in Burnhamville Township and attended Grey Eagle Schools. She married James C. Muenchow on November 11, 1946 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Grey Eagle. They made their home in Long Prairie where they raised their three children.

Ellene was a member of St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, Christian Mothers, and the V.F.W. Auxiliary all in Long Prairie. She enjoyed bowling, needlepoint, flower gardening, and crocheting, which she crocheted many afghans and baby booties. She was also an excellent baker and canner, known for many apple pies and delicious dill pickles.

Ellene is survived by her husband, James, Long Prairie; children, Mark (Nancy) Muenchow, Melrose; Cheryl (Mike) Ambrosius, Long Prairie; and Bryan Muenchow, Long Prairie; grandchildren, Melissa (Mikey) Terwey, Mary Ambrosius, Amy (Adam) Fuechtmann, Marie Muenchow, Carolyn (Patrick) Olson, and Nicholas Ambrosius and great-grandchildren, Zachary Warzecha, Zander Terwey, and Camden Terwey.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Dudley Larson, and sister Barbara Putzkey.
