SHERBURNE COUNTY -- A police chase near Zimmerman ended in the arrests of two juveniles today (Friday).

Sherburne County Sheriff, Joel Brott says investigators from the Criminal Investigation Division believed the two teens were involved in a series of crimes including burglary, theft and criminal damage to property.

Investigators watched the teens leave a Zimmerman residence in a car which they later found to be stolen.

The Elk River Police Department received a call about two teens switching license plates with a car in Elk River.

Officers tried to stop the vehicle but were led on a short chase. Police were finally able to stop the vehicle.

They searched it and found a loaded handgun. The two teens admitted to being involved in additional crimes which led to a search of both of their homes.

In one of the homes deputies found a homemade bomb. The Minneapolis Police Department Bomb Squad was called in to disable the device.

The two teens are being held in the Sherburne County Jail awaiting charges.
