Elk River Man Dies In Rollover In Steele County

OWATONNA (AP) - A 61-year-old Elk River man has died in a rollover crash on an icy highway in southern Minnesota.

Minnesota State Patrol reports that James A. Weinhold was driving his pickup truck south on Interstate 35 in Steel County at about 5:40 a.m. Tuesday when the vehicle hit a patch of ice, veered into a nearby ditch and rolled. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

State Patrol says Weinhold was wearing a seatbelt, but the air bag didn't deploy. No alcohol was detected in his system.

Weinhold was a car salesman at Cornerstone Ford in Elk River.
