ST. CLOUD -- Senator Tina Smith and Representative Tom Emmer will be in St. Cloud Saturday to discuss the recently announced Electrolux closure.

Smith and Emmer will meet with Mayor Dave Kleis, along with economic development officials and Electrolux employees to discuss the facilities closure, which is expected to impact 900 employees.

Electrolux announced last week they would be closing the St. Cloud plant in 2019. The company says they will invest $500-million in two other facilities in Springfield, Tennessee and in Anderson, South Carolina.

Several area leaders expressed optimism after the closure since the community and employees have two-years to figure out the next move. All Electrolux employees affected by the closure will be eligible for jobs elsewhere in the company.
