Current Stearns County Commissioner Mark Bromenschenkel is looking to leave his seat on the board and become Stearns County's next sheriff. Bromenschenkel wants changes to the sheriff's office that can save money and improve morale. Bromenschenkel says one way to do that is to eliminate the pre-shift muster meetings for deputies and communicate through squad car laptops...

Current sheriff, John Sanner, says those face-to-face meetings are important to maintain proper communication between sergeants and deputies...

Bromenschenkel would also like to have an independent consultant conduct an evaluation of the operations...

Sanner says in his time as sheriff, crime statistics have gone down while saving the department money...

Sanner is seeking his fourth term as sheriff. He'd like to finish overseeing the renovation of the Stearns County jail and continue the fight on drugs in the county. Bromenschenkel says he can save the county money by eliminating pre-shift meetings for deputies and improve morale in the office.
