Eleanor J. Maier, 75, Sauk Rapids

December 25, 1939 - June 24, 2015

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 27, 2015 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sauk Rapids for Eleanor J. Maier, age 75, who passed away Wednesday at the St. Cloud Hospital. Rev. Ralph Zimmerman will officiate and entombment will be at Sacred Heart Mausoleum. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday at Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home, Sauk Rapids and one hour prior to the services Saturday at the church. Parish prayers will be at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Eleanor was born Dec. 25, 1939 in Elrosa to John & Gertrude (Lesser) Illies. She married James Maier on July 7, 1959 at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Elrosa. They have lived in the Sauk Rapids area since their marriage. Eleanor owned and operated a cleaning business and also helped her husband at Countryside Auto. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Sauk Rapids American Legion Post #254 Auxiliary, and also volunteered at the St. Cloud VA Medical Center. Eleanor enjoyed sewing, gardening, singing karaoke, line dancing, and activities with her grandkids. She was a giver and would help anyone in need.

Survivors include her children, Michelle (Roger) Traut of Sartell, Danita (Ken) Traut of St. Stephen, Jacqueline (Bruce) Warnert of Mayhew Lake, Victoria Maier of Sauk Rapids and Jonathan (Jen) Maier of Holdingford; brothers and sisters, Cyril Illies of Elrosa, Gene (Donna) Illies of Elrosa, Mary Emslander of Elrosa, Ruth (Gerald) Wischnefski of Champlin, Tom (Alyce) Illies of Andover, Kathleen (Ron) Wischnefski of Sartell and Elizabeth Freihammer of Sauk Rapids; 13 grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren. Eleanor was preceded in death by her husband, James on April 15, 2014; son, James Brian (Jr.); and her parents.
