Elaine L. Larson, 85, Sartell

January 23, 1931 - July 15, 2016

Elaine L. Larson, age 85, Sartell, MN died Friday, July 15, 2016 at her home. Memorial service will be Wednesday, July 20, 2016 at 1:00 PM at Benson Funeral Home Chapel, St. Cloud, MN. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Wednesday.

Burial will be in Dawn Valley Cemetery, Bloomington, MN. Elaine was born January 23, 1931 (historically the coldest day of the year) on a farm in Lake Lillian, MN to August and Hannah (Seehusen) Strey. She was raised on the farm along with her nine other siblings. At an early age, she moved to Minneapolis and later to California working for the telephone company. Upon her return home after several years, Elaine met and married Darvin Larson.

They were married on July 26, 1957 in Fort Dodge, IA. They moved to Bloomington, MN where they raised their two children, Dawn and John. After her children were grown, Elaine moved to Waite Park, MN and then to Sartell, MN. Elaine professed her faith in Jesus Christ and was a loving mother, grandmother, and friend to many. Her smile will be missed.

She is survived by her children, Dawn (Randy) Prigge of St. Cloud, MN and John Larson of Bloomington, MN; seven grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and brother, Walter (Ruth) Strey of Bird Island, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Darvin on May 6, 2009, and eight brothers and sisters.
